An Act to alter and amend the Charter and increase the Stock of the Welland Canal Company, and to authorise His Majesty's Receiver General to subscribe Stock in the said Company on behalf of this Province. An Act to repeal part of an Act passed in the third year of His Majesty's reign, entitled “An Act granting to His Majesty a sum of money to defray the expense of erecting a Penitentiary in this Province, and for other purposes therein mentioned.” Passed, 6th March, 1834. 4 William IV – Chapter 38 1834 This act repeals an act passed in 1833 which granted twelve thousand five hundred pounds in three installments to the commissioners appointed to build a penitentiary, as the commissioners in question have indicated it is more expedient to receive the entire amount at once. An Act for the construction of Piers at the Isthmus of Long Point, on Lake Erie. An Act to authorize the construction of a Road from Hamilton, in the Gore District, to Port Dover in the London District. An Act to Incorporate certain persons therein mentioned under the style and title of the President, Directors and Company, of the Credit Harbor. Passed 6th March, 1834. 4 William IV – Chapter 32 1834 This act incorporates the Credit Harbour company, allowing them to build a harbour at the mouth of the river Credit. It limits the value of the company's shares at five thousand pounds, and appoints commissioners to determine the necessary land for the building of roads and other points of access for building the harbour. An Act to authorize Paschal Persillier dit Lachapelle and François Quennville to build a Toll Bridge over the River Des Prairies at the Abord a Plouf. (18th March, 1834.) 4 William IV Chapter 30 1834 This Act authorises Paschal Persillier dit Lachapelle and François Quennville to build and collect a toll on a bridge at the L'Abord-à-Plouffe over the Rivière des Prairies, in the District of Montreal at their own cost, under the provision that Nicolas Lambert does not complete his bridge in the time allotted to him under the 1830 Act, “An Act to authorize Eustache Nicholas Lambert Dumont, to build a Toll Bridge over the River Des Prairies, in the District of Montreal." Persillier and Quennville are granted the authority to take and use of the land required to build the bridge. Standards and stipulations for the bridge's construction and maintenance are outlined. The allowable tolls that can be charged are described, as well as those to be excepted from tolls. Additionally, after a period of fifty years, it is made lawful for the Crown to assume possession of the bridge. Passed 6th March, 1834. 4 William IV – Chapter 30 1834 This act incorporates the Port Hope and Rice Lake Canal Company, giving them the power to explore the land between the two regions to determine the best location for their project. It also allows the company to appropriate as much water as necessary from Rice Lake for the project, adding the limitation that they should not surpass the amount that is absolutely necessary for navigation, and they are given permission to build piers and other infrastructure related to the canal. (18th March, 1834.) 4 William IV Chapter 29 1834 An Act authorising John McKenzie to build and collect a toll on a bridge from the Île Jésus to the Village of Terrebonne, in the District of Montreal at his own cost.
