An Act to Incorporate certain persons under the style and title of the President, Directors and Company, of the Fort Erie Canal Company. Passed 4th March, 1837. | 7 William IV – Chapter 46 | 1837 | This act incorporates the named individuals as the For Erie Canal Company. The company is empowered to purchase, appropriate, take, and hold lands in order to build canals and locks, towing paths, and other associated structures to connect the rapids at the head of the Niagara river to the foot of the rapids. They are also empowered to charge a toll for use of the canal once the project is completed. An Act to amend the Law for the Improvement of the Navigation of the Saint Lawrence.
