An Ordinance to authorize the Corporation of the Trinity House of Quebec, to borrow a certain sum of money, and for other purposes relative to the said Corporation. 4 Victoria Chapter 5 (Session 6) 1840 This Ordinance allows the Trinity House at Quebec to borrow a sum not exceeding in the whole five thousand pounds to pay for improvements to and maintenance of light houses and similar purposes and outlines the terms by which this loan is to be repaid. Passed 10th February, 1840. 3 Victoria – Chapter 40 1840 This act permits the construction of a mill dam across the river Thames, so long as it includes the construction of locks to permit the passage of vessels. The act also includes a clause forbidding the complete barricade of the river for more than twenty days, under threat of withdrawal of the permit to construct and operate the dam. The company is empowered to build a harbour at the mouth of Twelve Mile Creek at their own costs, for the better navigation of Lake Ontario.
