An Act to appropriate a Sum of Money therein mentioned, for the encouragement of certain Schools in this Province. (29th March, 1826.) 6 George IV Chapter 12 1826 An Act to distribute several sums of money as outlined to support hospitals and charities in the Province, including, towards the support of foundlings in the District of Quebec, to the Religious Ladies of the General Hospital of Quebec and the General Hospital of Quebec, the Religious Ladies of the General Hospital of Montreal and the General Hospital of Montreal, towards the relief of insane persons in the District of Trois-Rivières, and the Religious Ladies Hospitalieres of the Hold Dieu of Quebec. An Act to incorporate the Quebec Fire Assurance Company. (29th March, 1826.) 6 George IV Chapter 11 1826 This Act lists the individuals to be incorporated as the ““The Quebec Fire Assurance Company,” and declares them a corporation, body politic and corporate that offers insurance against losses by fire. An Act to authorize the Inhabitants of the Fief Grosbois, in the County of Saint Maurice, to make regulations for the Common of the said Fief. (29th March, 1826.) 6 George IV Chapter 10 1826 This Act outlines the process by which a Chair and Trustees are to be elected to govern the Common as a body politic and corporate by the name “The Chairman and Trustees of the Common of Grosbois.” The Act also outlines how the land is to be governed, the terms the Chairman and Trustees are to serve. An Act to amend an Ordinance made and passed in the twenty-fifth year of His late Majesty’s Reign, intituled, “An Ordinance concerning Advocates, Attorneys, Solicitors and Notaries, and for the more easy collection of His Majesty’s Revenues.” (29th March, 1826.) 6 George IV Chapter 6 1826 An Act to amend an ordinance from 1785, “An Ordinance concerning Advocates, Attorneys, Solicitors and Notaries, and for the more easy collection of His Majesty’s Revenues,” to make it so that any Barrister at Law, being a Clerk of the Crown, will not be prevented from practising as a Barrister or as an Attorney at Law in any civil suit. An Act for enabling Courts to abstain from pronouncing sentence of Death in certain Capital Felonies. An Act for more particularly ascertaining the damages on protested Bills of Exchange, in the Province of Lower-Canada, and to suspend for a limited time, certain parts of the Ordinance therein-mentioned. (29th March, 1826.) 6 George IV Chapter 4 1826 Under this Act, the last article of an Act from 1777, “An Ordinance for ascertaining damages on protested Bills of Exchange and fixing the rate of interest in the Province of Quebec,” except as relating to rates of interest, is discontinued and replaced for the time in which this Act is in effect.
