An Act to amend a certain Act passed in the ninth year of the Reign of His late Majesty, intituled, “An Act to suspend for a limited time, certain Ordinances therein mentioned, as far as the same relates to the City of Montreal, and to establish a Society therein for preventing accidents by Fire.” (31st March, 1831.) 1 William IV Chapter 30 1831 This Act amends the 1829 Act, “An Act to suspend for a limited time, certain Ordinances therein mentioned, as far as the same relates to the City of Montreal, and to establish a Society therein for preventing accidents by Fire.” This Act amends the procedures by which the Fire Society in the City of Montreal can amend or repeal bye-laws or rules mentioned in the former Act, and certain exemptions for members of the Fire Society are put in place. An Act to repeal a certain Act or Odinance therein mentioned, and to provide effectual Regulations concerning the Practice of Physic, Surgery and Midwifery. (31st March, 1831.) 1 William IV Chapter 27 1831 This Act repeals and replaces the 1818 Act, “An Act or Ordinance to prevent persons practising Physic and Surgery within the Province of Quebec, or Midwifery in the Towns of Quebec and Montreal, without Licence.” This Act outlines how licenses to practice as a Physician, Surgeon, male Midwife, apothecary or druggist can be obtained and certain regulations pertaining to the practice and teaching of medicine in the province. An Act to appropriate a certain sum of money therein-mentioned for the support of the Emigrant Hospital, at Quebec, and to make further provision respecting the same. (31st March, 1831.) 1 William IV Chapter 26 1831 This Act makes further provision for the emigrant hospital at Quebec, pursuant of an Act passed in 1823, “An Act to appropriate a certain sum of money therein-mentioned for the relief of Indigent Sick Emigrants from the United-Kingdom.” This Act grants several sums to the hospital, to reimburse sums expended and to indemnify Jacques Seguin for his professional services, and adds further instructions for how the hospital is to function.
