This Act repeals and replaces the 1825 Act, “An Act for the encouragement of Trade and intercourse between the Port of Quebec and Halifax.” This Act grants a sum not exceeding three thousand pounds to the first person or company to build a Steam Vessel no less than five hundred tons burthen, that is to be regularly navigated between the Ports of Quebec, other Ports in the River Saint Lawrence, and Halifax, for four years. |

Several sums are to be distributed, under this Act, to defray expenses related to education, such as for the support of schools and printing books. Provisions are made to train person to qualify to open a school for deaf-mute persons in the province. |
