An Act to repeal part of, amend and reduce to one Act of Parliament the several Laws now in force in this Province, for the recovery of Small Debts; and to extend the Jurisdiction of the Court of Requests within the same. Passed 13th Feb. 1833. 3 William IV – Chapter 1 1833 This Act repeals certain previous legislation regarding small debt, and institutes a new system for settling the same, provided the debt be less than ten pounds. An Act to authorize the erection of Court Houses and Gaols in the Counties of this Province, and for other purposes therein-mentioned. 2 William IV Chapter 66 1832 This Act outlines the processes by which new Court Houses and jails can be established in the several Counties of the Province, including how real estate should be acquired for that purpose, and how plans and estimates can be submitted. An Act for the relief of the Contractors for the erection of the Bridge over the River Chaudière. (25th February, 1832.) 2 William IV Chapter 57 1832 Under this Act, François Normand and Edouard Normand, who were contracted to erect a bridge over the River Chaudière, are relieved of their obligation to repay a sum of three hundred and ninety-two pounds ten shillings that was paid to them, over and above the cost for having erected the said Bridge and for all extra work performed, and for all materials furnished by them. An Act to provide for the proof of the solemnization of Marriages and for the proof, of certain Baptisms and Burials in the Inferior District of Gaspé. (25th February, 1832.) 2 William IV Chapter 51 1832 This Act allows the solemnization of any Marriage or performance of any Baptism or Burial, of which no Record exists to be legally ascertained within five years from and after the passing of this Act in the Inferior District of Gaspé. Those wishing the have unrecorded marriages, baptisms, or burials documented are to do so by providing proof of solemnization before a Judge with two or more credible witnesses. An Act to appropriate certain sums of money for ascertaining the practicability of ensuring the annual formation of an Ice Bridge from Québec to the South Shore, in the manner proposed by John Le Breton, and for remunerating him in the event of his success therein. An Act to suspend for a limited time certain Ordinances therein mentioned as far as the same relate to the City of Québec, and to establish a Society therein for preventing Accidents by Fire. (25th February, 1832.) 2 William IV Chapter 37 1832 This Act suspends and replaces the 1877 Act, “An Ordinance for preventing accidents by Fire,” and the 1890 Act “An Act or Ordinance to amend an Act or Ordinance for preventing accidents by Fire, passed in the seventeenth year of His Majesty’s Reign" as concern the City of Québec. The Act implements several new rules, to be superintended by the Fire Society, established under this Act, largely pertaining to regulations on wood stoves, chimneys, and other fire risks. An Act to authorize the Commissioners appointed under a certain Act therein mentioned to borrow a further sum of money to be applied to the improvement and enlargement of the Harbour of Montreal, and for other purposes. (25th February, 1832.) 2 William IV Chapter 36 1832 This Act provides a further sum not exceeding fifteen thousands pounds towards carrying the 1830 Act, “An Act to provide for the improvement and enlargement of the Harbour of Montreal,” into effect.
