An Act to authorise the construction of a Mill Dam across the River Thames. Passed 10th February, 1840. 3 Victoria – Chapter 40 1840 This act permits the construction of a mill dam across the river Thames, so long as it includes the construction of locks to permit the passage of vessels. The act also includes a clause forbidding the complete barricade of the river for more than twenty days, under threat of withdrawal of the permit to construct and operate the dam.
