This act consolidates all regulations contained in prior acts regarding the maintenance and improvement of macadamized (gravel-paved) roads in several different districts of the province, and standardizes the regulation and construction of these roads under one act.
This act repeals existing legislation on liquor licences and creates a new system for their award, regulations for their maintenance and penalties for their violation.
This Ordinance repeals and replaces several Acts relating to the judicature of the several districts of the province. The boundaries of the several districts are described. Under this Ordinance, the "Court of the King's Bench" is to be referred to as the "Court of the Queen's Bench" in future Acts. This Ordinance is made permanent.
This Ordinance repeals and replaces the 1777 Act, “An Ordinance to prevent the selling of strong liquors to the Indians in the Province of Quebec, as also to deter persons from buying their Arms or Clothing, and for other purposes relative to the trade and intercourse with the said Indians." Under this Ordinance, the Governor is empowered to order any person to be removed from any Indian Village. This Ordinance is made permanent.
This Ordinance sets the limits of the Province's districts for the purposes of judicature, as outlined. This Ordinance also provides for the appointment of sheriffs in each district, and outlines their duties. This Ordinance repeals , the 1836 Act, “An Act to provide for the summary trial of small causes,” and the 1839 Ordinance “An Ordinance to establish Circuit Courts of Requests in the Districts of Quebec, Montreal and Three Rivers, and for other purposes.” Lists of fees associated with the justice system are included. This Ordinance is made permanent.
This Ordinance amends, and repeals in part, the 1839 Ordinance, “An Ordinance to amend a certain Act therein mentioned, and to provide for the better regulation of Taverns and Tavern Keepers."
