An Act to appropriate a certain Sum of Money therein-mentioned for the encouragement of Agriculture. 6 George IV Chapter 31 1826 Under this Act, it is made lawful for the Governor, Lieutenant Governor or person administering the Government of the Province to advance a sum not exceeding sixteen hundred pounds to the Agricultural Societies for the Districts of Quebec, Montreal, Trois-Rivières, and Gaspe for the encouragement of agricultural improvement in the province. The Act also stipulates that that the Members of the Legislature and the resident Clergy, are to be honorary Members of the District Agricultural Society for the District within which they reside. Under the 1824 Act, these communities were to elect Trustees to enforce rules and regulations outlined within it, largely pertaining to fire prevention. An Act for more particularly ascertaining the damages on protested Bills of Exchange, in the Province of Lower-Canada, and to suspend for a limited time, certain parts of the Ordinance therein-mentioned. (29th March, 1826.) 6 George IV Chapter 4 1826 Under this Act, the last article of an Act from 1777, “An Ordinance for ascertaining damages on protested Bills of Exchange and fixing the rate of interest in the Province of Quebec,” except as relating to rates of interest, is discontinued and replaced for the time in which this Act is in effect.
