An Act to confer upon His Majesty certain powers and authorities, necessary to the making, maintaining, and using the Canal intended to be completed under His Majesty's direction, for connecting the waters of Lake Ontario with the River Ottawa, and for other purposes therein mentioned. Passed 17th Feb’y. 1827. 8 George IV – Chapter 1 1827 This act allows for the building of canals to connect the Ottawa river to the great lakes in order to promote trade, agriculture, and to facilitate the transportation of naval and military stores. An Act to establish the manner of issuing Licences on which Duties are imposed by any Laws in force in this Province. An Act for removing doubts respecting the construction of a certain part of the Act of the thirty-fifth year of the Reign of His late Majesty, George the Third, chap. 4, intituled, “An Act to establish the form of Registers of Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, to confirm and make valid in law the Register of the Protestant Congregation of Christ-Church, Montreal, and others which may have been informally kept, and to afford the means of remedying omissions in former Registers,” as also for removing doubts about the validity of certain Marriages herein mentioned.
