An Act for the relief of certain Religious denominations of persons called Menonists, Tunkers and Quakers. Passed, 6th March, 1834. | 4 William IV – Chapter 13 | 1834 | This act reduces the sum paid by Menonists, Quakers and Tunkers (German Baptist Brethren; Schwarzenau Brethren) to except them from militia service. While the laws of the province required all men between the ages of sixteen and 60 to serve in the militia, the men of these religious groups were except based on their religious beliefs; however, a law passed in 1808 required them to pay a fine for their exception.
