This act continues an act first passed in 1839, which consolidates several past acts concerning the building and maintenance of lighthouses in the province, with some amendments.
This act repeals prior legislation granting bounties for the destruction of bears and wolves in the province and places new rewards on bears and wolves destroyed by First Nations peoples.
This act levies five hundred pounds annually upon the Parish of Fredericton by means of a poll tax for the repair and maintenance of streets, highways, and bridges within within the city.
This act incorporates the Quebec Gas-Light and Water company under the named individuals. The manner in which the board of directors will be elected is specified, as well as their responsibilities, the value of shares, and the way in which they will be distributed. The company is instructed to undertake the work of laying down pipes for water and gas through the streets of Québec under the supervision of the city surveyor and only after having secured the proper permits and permission of the mayor, taking care not to do any unnecessary damage. Penalties for breaking the regulations laid out in this act are also defined within the act.
This act suspends a prior act which requires the harnessing of horses or draught animal to be done in a certain way when clearing winter roads in certain areas of the province formally known as Lower Canada (Québec).
This act continues various past acts regarding parishes and the erection of churches, regulation of bills of exchange, inspection of pot and pearl ashes and fish oil, and the regulation of provincial courts, among other things.
