An Act for the appointment of an Inspector and Measurers of Scows and Rafts, and for regulating the Pilots or Conductors thereof, between Chateauguay and the City of Montreal. (25th March, 1805.) 45 George III Chapter 9 1805 An Act to limit accidents at the rapids on the St. Lawrence river above Montreal caused by going over the rapids with heavy loads. An Act to continue, for a limited time, the powers granted to certain Commissioners, by an Act, intituled, “An Act for removing the old Walls and Fortifications that surround the City of Montreal, and otherwise to provide for the salubrity, conveyance and embellishment of the said City,” and for extending the said powers, in certain cases. (25th March, 1805.) 45 George III Chapter 8 1805 This Act extends the powers of commissioners and the treasurer appointed under an Act passed in 1801, which had been set to expire. The Act sets a new expiry for these positions. The original Act set out provisions for removing the walls and fortifications around Montreal, and outlined how the lands then occupied by the walls and fortifications should be sold. An Act for applying certain Sums of Money therein mentioned, to complete the Bridge over the River Jacques Cartier, and to open and improve the road leading towards the said Bridge. An Act for the Relief of the Poor in the loan of Seed Wheat, Corn and other necessary Grain. (25th March, 1805.) 45 George III Chapter 5 1805 An Act establishing that lenders of seed for crops including wheat, corn, peas, oats, or potatoes, will be granted a privileged debt by the courts, to encourage those who can spare seed to loan it to poorer inhabitants. An Act further to continue, for a limited time, and Act passed in the forty third year of His Majesty’s Reign, intituled, “An Act for establishing Regulations respecting Aliens and certain Subjects of his Majesty, who have resided in France, coming into this Province or residing therein,” (25th March, 1805.) 45 George III Chapter 4 1805 An Act to continue an Act passed in 1803, for a limited time, to monitor the entrance of "foreigners" into the province by ship. The Act requires that ship commanders report the number of "foreigners" on board their vessel to Customs officials when they arrive at ports within the province. The Act grants authority to Justices of the Peace to jail and remove "Aliens" who remain within the province longer than the period allowed by the court. An Act further to continue for a limited time, an Act passed in the thirty sixth year of his Majesty’s Reign, intituled, “An Act for making a temporary provision for the regulation of trade between this Province and the United States of America, by land or inland navigation.” (25th March, 1805) 45 George III Chapter 3 1805 This Act continues an Act that first passed in 1796, and which allows the suspension of any act or ordinance relating to trade, in whole or in part, by the Governor or Lieutenant Governor. It further allows the Governor or Lieutenant Governor to make regulations with respect to imports, exports, duties, or anything else between Lower Canada and the United States. An Act to ratify and confirm the Provisional Articles of Agreement entered into by the respective Commissioners of this Province and of Upper Canada, at Montreal, on the fifth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and four, relative to Duties, and for carrying the same into effect: and also further to continue an Act passed in the thirty seventh year of his Majesty’s Reign.
