An Act to enable William Chisholm, Esquire, to erect a Harbor at the Sixteen-mile-Creek, in the Township of Trafalgar, in the Gore District. Passed 25th March, 1828. 9 George IV – Chapter 19 1828 This Act grants permission for William Chisholm, Esq., to build a harbour at the opening of Sixteen Mile Creek. An Act to provide for the valuation of the labour and materials applied in constructing the Harbour at Burlington Bay, and for other purposes relating to the said Harbour. An Act in authorize the Mayor, Aldermen, and Commonalty of the City of Saint John, to open a Street from the Wharf on the South side of the Market Slip, to the Wharf owned by Charles I. Peters; Esquire. An Act to provide for the construction of Aprons to Mill Dams over certain Streams in this Province. Passed 25th March, 1828. 9 George IV – Chapter 4 1828 This Act states that any owner of a mill dam must build an apron for the same, so as to prevent or eliminate obstructions for fish, or for those transporting lumber via waterways. An Act to provide for a further Survey of the Works done at the Burlington Bay Canal, and also to afford further aid to complete the same. An Act for affording Public Aid towards the Completion of the Welland Canal. Passed 17th Feb’y. 1827. 8 George IV – Chapter 17 1827 This act allows a financial advance to the company constructing the canal between lake Erie and lake Ontario so that they can complete the project. The company will be responsible for paying the interest on the loan annually, and the Governor or Lieutenant Governor is directed to sell shares in the company stocks to recuperate costs at the government's discretion. An Act in addition to the Act, entitled, “An Act to authorise the Incorporation of a Company, for making a Canal by the River and Lakes of the Shubenacadie.” 8 George IV – Chapter 17 1827 An amendment to an act first passed in 1824, which allows for the incorporation of a company which will have as its goal the construction of a canal on the Shubenacadie River to allow for easier navigation to and from Halifax Harbour and Minas Basin. An Act to Incorporate certain Persons therein mentioned, under the Style and Title of “the Cataraqui Bridge Company.” Passed 17th Feb’y. 1827. 8 George IV – Chapter 12 1827 This act incorporates the shareholders of the Cataraqui bridge company into a public body which can conduct business as an entity in the province. It also specifies regulations concerning the construction of bridges - their dimensions, security measures which need to be taken to assure the safety of both cattle and people, and areas which necessitate the building of a draw-bridge.
