An Ordinance for the Attainder of persons against whom sentences or judgments of Courts Martial shall be given, under and by virtue of an Ordinance passed in the second year of Her Majesty’s Reign, intituled, “An Ordinance for the suppression of the Rebellion which unhappily exists within this Province of Lower Canada, and for the protection of the persons and properties of Her Majesty’s faithful subjects within the same,” and of another Ordinance passed in the said second year of Her Majesty’s Reign, intituled, “An Ordinance to declare and define the period when the Rebellion, now unhappily existing in this Province, shall be taken and held to cease, and for other purposes.” 2 Victoria Chapter 7 (Session 3) 1838 This Ordinance clarifies that the goods, chattels, and other property of people sentences to death under the ordinances therein named remain forfeited to the Queen. An Act to authorise the Surveyor of Highways in and for the County of Wentworth, to convey to Allan N. MacNab, Esquire, certain allowances for Road in the Township of Barton, in the District of Gore. Passed 6th March, 1838. 1 Victoria – Chapter 41 1838 This act authorises the surveyor for the county of Wentworth to grant a certain amount of land back to Allan MacNab after having discovered that part of a road has been built on his land without proper compensation. An Act to amend An Act passed in the first year of His present Majesty's Reign, entitled, “An Act to provide for settling and determining by Arbitration certain difficulties that have arisen, or may arise, between persons owning Land in the Eighth Concession of Saltfleet, and persons owning, or claiming to own, Lands in the First Concession of Binbrook, who through mistake may have made improvements on the rear part of the said Eighth Concession of Saltfleet.” Passed 4th March, 1837. 7 William IV – Chapter 59 1837 This act is an amendment to an act first passed in 1831, which provided for the settlement of disputes resulting from a surveying error affecting the First Concession of Binbrook and the Eighth Concession of Saltfleet. An Act to repeal part of an Act passed in the Parliament of Great Britain in the Fifth year of the Reign of His Majesty King George the Fourth, intituled “An Act for the better Administration of Justice in Newfoundland, and for other purposes,” and to make further provision for the Registration of Deeds in this Colony. (18th November, 1837.) 1 Victoria Chapter 5 1837 This act repeals part of an act first passed under the imperial parliament, before Newfoundland had its own legislative assembly, concerning the criminal code. An Act to repeal a certain Act therein mentioned, and more effectually to remedy divers abuses prejudicial to Agriculture. (21st March, 1836.) 6 William IV Chapter 56 1836 This Act repeals and replaces the 1833 Act, “An Act to repeal a certain Act therein mentioned, and to provide more effectually for the remedy of divers abuses prejudicial to Agriculture." This Act defines penalties against those who commit trespasses, wrongs, and abuses prejudicial to Agricultural Improvement, including carrying away, breaking down or injuring fences on land not belonging to them, and cutting down or otherwise destroying any fences, trees, bushes or shrubs, without the leave of the land's proprietor. Fines and exceptions to this Act are outlined. The Act also describes how violent or misbehaving animals like dogs, horses, rams, or cattle, are to be handled, and penalties if owners do not follow the terms of this Act and sets several regulations of the treatment of servants and apprentices. Other restrictions on land maintenance including drains, weeds, and fences are outlined, including how these terms should be enforced. This Act is to remain in force until 1845. An Act for preserving, for the purposes of Husbandry, the Grass growing on Beaches, in the District of Quebec. (21st March, 1836.) 6 William IV Chapter 55 1836 Under this Act, the proprietors of the land bordering the Saint Lawrence below Quebec are allowed to cut and cure the grass on the beaches to the exclusion of all other people, and livestock are not to be permitted to graze on this land.
