An Act to provide for the erection of a new Court House and Gaol in the County of Northumberland. An Act to provide for a further Survey of the Works done at the Burlington Bay Canal, and also to afford further aid to complete the same. An Act to Provide for the Construction of a Harbour at the Mouth of Kettle-Creek in the London District. An Act in addition to the Act, entitled, “An Act to authorise the Incorporation of a Company, for making a Canal by the River and Lakes of the Shubenacadie.” 8 George IV – Chapter 17 1827 An amendment to an act first passed in 1824, which allows for the incorporation of a company which will have as its goal the construction of a canal on the Shubenacadie River to allow for easier navigation to and from Halifax Harbour and Minas Basin. An Act granting to Chauncey Beadle the exclusive privilege of Establishing and Running a Line of Public Stages between the Village of Ancaster in the Gore District, and the Town of Sandwich in the Western District. Passed 17th Feb’y. 1827. 8 George IV – Chapter 16 1827 This act establishes a line of public coaches between Ancaster and Sandwich (now a part of Windsor). It defines how passengers shall be accommodated, the price of passage, and the minimum age of passengers. An Act to amend the Laws now in force for the Appointment of Street Surveyors, so far as relates to the several Towns in this Province other than those in which the General Quarter Sessions of the Peace are by law holden. This act hands this responsibility over to local justices, and specifies who is responsible for the appointment of surveyors in cases of remote communities where it is impractical to expect them to communicate with provincial courts in order to appoint surveyors to construct roads. An Act to erect the North-eastern part of the County of Westmoreland into a distinct Town or Parish, and also to authorize the appointment of Parish Officers at the November General Sessions in each year. An Act to Incorporate certain Persons therein mentioned, under the Style and Title of “the Cataraqui Bridge Company.” Passed 17th Feb’y. 1827. 8 George IV – Chapter 12 1827 This act incorporates the shareholders of the Cataraqui bridge company into a public body which can conduct business as an entity in the province. It also specifies regulations concerning the construction of bridges - their dimensions, security measures which need to be taken to assure the safety of both cattle and people, and areas which necessitate the building of a draw-bridge. An Act to alter and amend the laws now in force relating to the establishment, regulation and improvement of the Great Roads throughout the Province, and to make more effectual provision for the same. An Act to authorize Eustache Nicolas Lambert Dumont, Esquire, to build a Toll Bridge over the River Jesus, opposite the Village of Saint Eustache. (7th March, 1827.) 7 George IV Chapter 21 1827 An Act authorising Eustache Nicolas Lambert Dumont, Esquire to build and collect a toll on a bridge crossing the River Jesus, opposite the Village of Saint Eustache. Dumont is granted the authority to take and use of the land required to build the bridge. Standards and stipulations for the bridge's construction and maintenance are outlined, and Dumont’s obligations in the event alterations to the bridge are required. The allowable tolls that can be charged are described, as well as those to be excepted from tolls. Additionally, after a period of fifty years, it is made lawful for the Crown to assume possession of the bridge. An Act to carry into effect the purpose of part of a certain Act of the Legislature of this Province, as far as the same respects the erection of a Gaol and Court-Hall at Perce, and to repeal in part the said Act. (7th March, 1827.) 7 George IV Chapter 15 1827 An Act to provide a sum not exceeding one thousand pounds for the purpose of erecting a Gaol and Court-Hall at Percé in the Inferior District of Gaspé. The processes by which Commissioners are to be appointed to superintend the erection of the Gaol and Court-Hall are explained, as well as their duties. An Act for the establishment of a New Market at Montreal. (7th March, 1827.) 7 George IV Chapter 14 1827 An Act to authorise the construction of a new public marketplace in Montreal at the end of Saint Francois Xavier Street, and lying between Foundling and Commissioners Streets, and extending to the extremity of McGill Street. Processes for the construction of the market stalls and weigh house are outlined, as well as penalties for those who offend against the Act’s terms. An Act to appropriate a sum of money therein-mentioned, to subscribe for shares in the undertaking of the Welland Canal Company, in Upper- Canada. (7th March, 1827.) 7 George IV Chapter 13 1827 An Act to make lawful for the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, or Person administering the Government of the Province to subscribe for up to two thousand shares in the Welland Canal Company, as it was deemed of great public utility to the Canadas, as the Canal would admit free passage of vessels from Lakes Erie, St. Clair, Huron and Michigan to Lake Ontario, and the River St. Lawrence.
