This act places various regulations on the rebuilding of St John's after part of the town was destroyed in the fire. The new regulations in this act include fire breaks, sewage, and various other measures including making provisions for the supervision of the undertaking of these measures.

This act amends the original act incorporating the City of Toronto Gas Light and Water Company. It amends the clause stating that property owners who have had their property damaged by the said corporation can sue for damages; as of the passing of this act, only the city of Toronto can sue for damages. Plaintiffs will need to bring forward evidence from the city inspectors for their complaints to be brought to action.
