An Act for preventing malicious injuries to persons and property by fire, or by explosive or destructive substances. 9th July, 1847. 10 & 11 Victoria – Chapter 4 1847 An Act to punish arson and the use of explosive and other destructive materials to injury a person or property. If a person is convicted of maliciously harming another person using these means they will be convicted of a felony and serve at least seven years in the Provincial Penitentiary or a maximum of three years in a Common Gaol. If a person helps another individual by supplying them the materials they are charged with a misdemeanor and face up to two years in the Common Gaol. If the person convicted is a male under eighteen years of age, they will face the regular penalty along with up to three public or private whippings.
