An Ordinance to suspend for a limited time certain parts of two Ordinances therein mentioned, as far as the same relate to the City of Montreal, and to establish a Society therein for preventing accidents by Fire. 2 Victoria Chapter 8 (Session 4) 1839 This Ordinance suspends and replaces the 1777 Act, “An Ordinance for preventing accidents by Fire,” and the 1790 Act, “An Act or Ordinance to amend an Actor Ordinance for preventing accidents by Fire, passed in the seventeenth year of His Majesty’s Reign,” as relates to the appointment of an Overseer for Montreal for a limited time. An Ordinance to authorise the Governor or person administering the Government of this Province, to appoint one or more Assistant Judges for the Courts of King’s Bench for the Districts of Quebec and Montreal, in in this Province, and an Assistant Judge for the District of Three Rivers, in the case of sickness, necessary absence, or suspension from office of any of the Justices of the said several Courts of King’s Bench, or the Resident Judge for the District of Three Rivers, in the said Province. 2 Victoria Chapter 13 (Session 3) 1838 This Ordinance makes provision for the appointment of Assistant Judges for the Districts of Quebec, Montreal, and Trois-Rivières, as deemed necessary.
