This act places duties on several imported items so as to raise provincial revenues, establishes a system through which they will be paid, and penalties for their violation.
This Act repeals a section of a former Act, “An Act to repeal a certain Act therein-mentioned, and for the encouragement of the Trade and Intercourse between the Ports of this Province and Halifax,” pertaining to sums advanced at the end of the season.
This Act authorizes Commissioners to appoint fit and proper persons to meet with Commissioners from Upper Canada to draw a line of division between the provinces across the lands situated between the Ottawa and St. Lawrence Rivers.
Under this Act, a lighthouse is to be built and maintained on the Island of Saint Paul. The expense of this project is to be shared between the provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward’s Island, and the Trinity House of Quebec.
