This act repeals exisiting legislation concerning the government of the city of Fredericton, and creates a new system for how the city of Fredericton will be bordered and governed, and what legal and constituional rights it will enjoy
This act re-divides the northern and southern circuit courts into the Ferryland Section, the Saint Mary’s and Placentia Section, the Burin Section, and the Fortune Bay Section. The responsibilities of the court districts are defined by the act.
This act authorizes the raising of a loan, not exceeding seven thousand five hundred pounds, to build a penitentiary in St John's. It appoints commissioners for the building projects, and defines the jurisdiction of the prison once it is built.
This act extends an 1838 act establishing the Police Force in the Parish of Portland until 1856 and adds amendments concerning its authority and allowing for temporary appointments to it.
This act reverses the forfeiture of property associated with the 1814 prosecution of Aaron Stevens, who was found guilty of being an American spy. The portions of his estate not already sold or claimed by the state are returned to his descendants.
