This Act amends the processes by which Sheriffs are to be appointed, reappointed, or replaced in the province and implements a new form of returns Clerks of the Supreme Court at Halifax are obliged to make every six months and every Easter term.
This is an amendment to an act first passed in 1762, which allows for the purchase of specific gear for the firewards of Halifax. The type of equipment to be purchased is listed, along with a levy on the inhabitants of the town in order to pay for it.
This act allows for the appointment of a tax collector by the justices of the peace of Halifax, in order to more efficiently collect taxes from the inhabitants of the town to support the poor.
This act modifies the number of times different levels of court sittings will be held per year in Halifax. (The act in the form published here, taken from Uniacke's 1805 volume, is incomplete.)
This act prevents the sale of cord wood for any price over fifteen shillings per cord, with the penalty of a fine of ten shillings per cord for every offence.
