This act repeals an act first passed in 1835, which made provisions for fire safety in the town of Carbonear, and provided for the funding of these measures, and replaces the original clauses with new ones.
This is an amendment to an act passed in 1860 which legislated the use of wagons and wheeled carts, the proper penning of farm animals and cart horses, inspection of chimneys, the fencing of property abutting dangerous cliffs or coves, and the penalties for not following these laws in the towns of St. John's, Harbor Grace, Carbonear and Brigus. Clauses added include penalties for littering and for not repairing sidewalks adjoining one's property when ordered.
