A continuation of an act passed in 1811, which was an amendment to an act first passed in 1780. The original act granted a sum of money for the erection of a public school in Halifax, and established various regulations concerning the running of said school. The amendment concerns the number of boys to be sent to the school without having to pay tuition, the appointment of commissioners, and the dismissal of school masters or ushers who refuse to follow the regulations as set out by the commissioners.
A continuation and amendment of an act first passed in 1822 which establishes a duty to be collected at all harbours adjacent to the gut of Canso to support the Cranberry Island lighthouse. The amendment changes the amount paid by British ships exceeding sixty-five tons in burthen from a fee every time they use the Canso strait, to an annual fee of twenty shillings.
This act states that grand and petit jurors who attend the supreme court of Halifax will not be required to attend during the Trinity Term (that is, the term beginning after Easter) unless the court issues specific writs.
