This act awards those convicted under offenses which qualify for "Benefit of Clergy" (an arcane term for a lenient sentence), to pay fines or endure whippings instead of suffering burnings or markings.
This act allows for proprietors to petition local Justices of the Peace to erect swing gates and water fences along the roads and waterways of their property.
