This is a continuation of an act first passed in 1841, which set standards by which inspectors are to grade fish set to be exported out of the province.
This act allows anyone who is a British subject to apply for a patent in the province if they have invented something new, whether it be a product or an art, machine, manufacturing method, or composition matter.
