This Ordinance continues the 1833 Act, “An Act further to suspend certain parts of an Act or Ordinance therein mentioned, and to consolidate and further to continue for a limited time, the provisions of two other Acts therein mentioned, for more effectually ascertaining the damages on protested Bills of Exchange, and for determining disputes relating thereto, and for other purposes;” which is to remain in force until 1842.
This Act continues the 1835 Act, “An Act for the Transportation of certain Offenders from this Province to England, to be thence again transported to New South Wales or Van Diemen’s Land," which is to remain in force until 1842.
This act repeals and amends an act first passed in 1824. The amended clauses primarily concern the amount of money the individual in charge of collecting duties on imports from the United States is permitted to retain for himself as a salary, which is changed to five pounds for every hundred pounds to a maximum of three hundred pounds per year.
This Act makes provisions for offenders convicted of certain offences who had received a pardon upon condition of Transportation to be transported to England and from there to the Colony of New South Wales, of to the Colony of Van Diemen’s Land. The examinations and protocols to be followed before transporting such convicts are outlined. This Act is to remain in force until 1838.
