This act allows the New Brunswick government to activate the powers to repeal duties on imported British goods granted to them by an act of the Imperial parliament.
This is a continuation of an act passed in the first session of 1846, which defines duties to be charged on trade goods coming into the province in order to provide a revenue for the government.
An act to amend "An Act for repealing and consolidating the present duties of Customs in this Province, and for other purposes therein mentioned" so that wheat will have a duty of three shillings per quarter instead of the seven and a half percent in the original act.
