An Act for the Security of Navigation, and for preserving all Ships, Vessels and Goods, which may be found on shore, wrecked or stranded upon the coasts of this Province, and for punishing persons who shall steal Shipwrecked Goods, and for the relief of persons suffering loss thereby.

DescriptionThis act imposes penalties for anyone who should try to claim goods they find on shore without being able to prove they are not from a shipwreck, or they do not own them. The act includes provisions for issuing warrants to search for concealed goods which may have been seized from the shore after a shipwreck in order to return them to their rightful owners.
