    This Act amends the 1762 Act, “An Act for appointing Firewards and ascertaining their Duty, and for punishing Thefts and Disorders at the Time of Fire,” as amended in 1782. The Act reduces the fine imposed on persons who neglect to sweep their chimnies and makes provision for several more firewards to be appointed.
