DescriptionThis act continues, with some amendment, an act passed in 1834 and continued in 1837. The original act created the city of Toronto, formerly known as York, and specified services to be provided by the city, taxes that can be levied, city limits, and many other specific legislative issues. The amendments mostly pertain to tax rates, appointment of tax assessors, and the election of local officials.
