An Act to provide for the Management of the Estate of William Handley, Esquire. Passed 10th February, 1840. 3 Victoria – Chapter 30 1840 This act appoints trustees to manage the estates of William Handley, who is being confined to the lunatic asylum. Passed 11th May, 1839. 2 Victoria – Chapter 38 1839 This act incorporates the named individuals into the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Upper Canada, who will have the authority to regulate the medical profession in the province. The act specifies the board's authority and responsibilities, and the penalties for those who should practice any type of medicine without first obtaining a license from the College. An Act to continue and make perpetual an Act passed in the fifth year of the reign of King William the Fourth, entitled “An Act to promote the public health, and to guard against infectious diseases in this Province.” Passed 11th May, 1839. 2 Victoria – Chapter 21 1839 This act continues and makes perpetual an act first passed in 1835, which permitted the appointment of three or more health officers in every town of the province. An Act to protect the Public against accidental injury from Machinery used in Mills, and for other purposes. Passed 6th March, 1838. 1 Victoria – Chapter 18 1838 This act requires the placement of guards over dangerous machinery, and requires the inspection of said machinery to make sure it the owners have installed the proper guards and that they are in good and proper repair. An Act to revive and continue, for a limited time, an Act passed in the Third year of His present Majesty's Reign, entitled, “An Act to continue an Act passed in the Eleventh year of His late Majesty's Reign, entitled, ‘An Act to authorise the Quarter Sessions of the Home District to provide for the relief of Insane Destitute Persons in that District,’ and to extend the provisions of the same to the other Districts of this Province.” Passed 4th March, 1837. 7 William IV – Chapter 29 1837 This act continues an act first passed in 1830 and most recently continued in 1833, which authorized the Quarter Sessions of the Peace in the Home District to request the District Treasurer to release funds for the support of those insane inhabitants of the District who have insufficient means of supporting themselves.
